As an assessor, Becky knows exactly what is required, and the standard required, in the assessments and offers training to prepare candidates.

For anyone who has an impending assessment, Becky can help you with "Panic revision sessions" and "mocks".

Stage 1, 2 and 3 and 4 theory courses are available on zoom. These are usually run through the winter months on a Monday evening, and they cover all the theory knowledge required for the level (including the theory behind the practical). These courses are also very helpful for horse owners just wanting to improve their knowledge and understanding of how to look after their horses correctly.

Becky will also carry out practical sessions for anyone wanting to improve their skills, either in preparation of assessments or just so they know how to do things properly, she will sign off skills records for those wanting to take assessments once she is happy that they are at the required level.

For those wanting to do their coaching assessment, help and training can be organised. Practical coaching sessions can be held at a local riding school or at your venue if you are based at a riding establishment.

Zoom courses on how to correctly write risk assessments and lesson plans, how to organise your lessons and understanding the theory requirements are also available.

Stage 1 assessments can be carried out as “devolved assessments”; which means Becky can arrange your assessment at a local BHS approved centre and assess you herself.

Devolved stage 1 assessments are usually carried out after the stage 1 zoom course in December, but can be arranged anytime.

The BHS silver challenge award “Ride out Safely” is a pre requisite of the stage 1 ride, and Becky is happy to do this with groups or individually, on your own horse or a local BHS centre.

The ride out safely award is also a very useful for anyone who rides

out on the roads.
